Our Adoption Journey

We've always hoped to be parents someday, feeling that our love produces an overflow of creative energy that needs to be shared. Once we'd gotten our business established and found a home that we loved, we began trying for a baby.

After two years of being unable to conceive, we declined to pursue fertility treatments. It was not critical that our child be biologically related to us, and we liked the thought of opening our home and our love to a child who needed them. Our friends in Northampton include several families with adoption experience, who were happy to share their stories with us.

The more we learned about open adoption, the more we felt that it suited our values and would be best for everyone, especially the child. We believe it's important to let children have all their feelings and explore all pieces of their identity. A connection to a loving birthfamily is a great gift to them. We are committed to keeping the lines of communication open, and honoring the birthparents' role in our child's life.

Because we both work from home with flexible schedules, we look forward to being hands-on, stay-at-home parents.
